For more than a century, YMCA Camp Jackson has been a place where generations of campers discovered courage, friendship, and a deep love for the outdoors beneath the Colorado sky. From its earliest days, the camp’s mission was simple yet profound — to help young people grow in spirit, mind, and body through connection with nature and one another. That mission lives on. After thoughtful consideration, the YMCA of Pueblo Board of Directors has made the decision to cease operations at the mountain property following the 2025 season. Rising facility and insurance costs and declining local participation have made it clear that the next chapter of Camp Jackson’s story will look different — but its heart remains the same. In 2026, we will launch a new Urban Camp experience on our Pueblo campus that brings the spirit of Camp Jackson to even more children and families, year-round and closer to home. This is not the end of Camp Jackson — it’s a continuation of its legacy. The same values of friendship, courage, and belonging that shaped countless summers in the mountains will continue to inspire future generations right here in Pueblo.
