High Country Campground is a family-owned campground located in the high country of Virginia at 3,600 feet elevation on White Top Mountain, nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. Owned and operated by Pete Bartel since 2020, the campground sits on a historic property with a colorful past as an old Speakeasy called "The Eagles Nest." The property offers direct access to trails of Mount Rogers, Whitetop Mountain, and the Appalachian Trail, making it an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy fishing, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, ATV and mountain bike trails on the surrounding grounds. The campground features clean ceramic tile showers, a 40 x 80 building with griddle facilities, and nearby dining options. With its rich Appalachian heritage and proximity to numerous outdoor recreation opportunities, High Country Campground provides an authentic mountain camping experience in one of Virginia's most scenic regions.
