The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469-mile scenic road that spans through the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. Rocky Knob is a 4,800-acre area within the parkway, spanning from Blue Ridge Parkway Milepost 167 to 174. It features 15 miles of hiking trails, including the Rock Castle Gorge National Recreation Trail. Mabry Mill, located at Milepost 176.1, is a historic gristmill and sawmill that offers opportunities for hiking, camping, picnicking, and viewing the mill's exhibits. The area also features a campground with 81 tent and 28 trailer sites, restrooms, and a dump station for RVs. Visitors can explore the area's trails, including the Rockcastle Gorge, Black Ridge, and Rocky Knob Picnic Area trails. The parkway is open year-round and free to explore.
