About

Upper Lagunitas Campground is located in the Carson National Forest. The area south of the New Mexico-Colorado border is over 100,000 acres of rolling grassland surrounded by conifers, ponderosa and aspen stands. Breaktaking views of large landscapes in the Rio Chama Valley can be found in the Abiquiu area. A popular area for camping and the main launch point into the Latir Peaks Wilderness is Cabresto Canyon. The campground offers various recreation opportunities such as biking, fishing, hiking, horse riding and camping, hunting & shooting, off-highway vehicles (OHV), outdoor science and learning, picnicking, scenic drives, and winter sports.
