The Bank Campground is a 33-site BLM campground located approximately 15 miles north of Cañon City, Colorado, at an elevation of 6,890 feet. Open year-round, it has become a premier destination for rock climbers and outdoor enthusiasts, offering spectacular access to the Shelf Road climbing area with nearly 1,000 bolted routes. The campground features individual tent and van camping sites in Loop A and larger pull-through sites in Loop B designed to accommodate RVs, along with two group sites. The dramatic landscape is characterized by impressive limestone cliffs, piñon pine, and juniper vegetation. However, visitors should note that the access road is steep and rough, making it unsuitable for large RVs and trailers. The campground offers no hookups, potable water, or trash service, requiring visitors to be self-sufficient. Beyond climbing, the area provides excellent opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and scenic drives.
