Sand Hills State Forest is a 46,572-acre forest located in Chesterfield, Kershaw, and Darlington counties in South Carolina. It features a unique geologic feature named Sugarloaf Mountain, an isolated hill of bedrock called a monadnock. The forest is perfect for exploring, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and camping. It is managed under federal endangered species requirements that protect the red-cockaded woodpecker and its habitat. The forest is certified to the forest management standards of Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and American Tree Farm System (ATFM).
