About

The Paw Paw Tunnel Campground is located at Mile 156 on the C&O Canal Towpath on the Maryland side of the Potomac River, across from the town of Paw Paw in West Virginia. It is tucked in the mountains of Western Maryland and adjacent to Green Ridge State Forest, offering a mix of history and natural beauty. The campground has 10 single campsites, each with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill, accommodating up to eight people. Portable toilets are available, and hand pump water is accessible from April 15 to November 1. Visitors can explore the surrounding area, including Green Ridge State Forest and the city of Cumberland, MD, which is about 25 miles west on MD Route 51. The campground is unstaffed, and general information can be obtained by calling the main office at (301) 739-4200.
