Lake Powhatan Recreation Area & Campground is a scenic campground located in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina, just 10 minutes from downtown Asheville. Situated on the banks of Lake Powhatan at an elevation of 2,200 feet, the campground offers a heavily wooded setting surrounded by mile-high peaks, cascading waterfalls, and forests of hardwoods and conifers. The facility features four organized loops of shaded, private campsites all within walking distance of the lake, with amenities including picnic tables, tent pads, lantern posts, campfire rings with grills, and restrooms with hot showers. Recently, 12 custom-designed glamping tents have been added for those seeking comfort in nature. The location provides convenient access to popular attractions including the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking and mountain biking trails, the NC Arboretum, Biltmore Estate, Sliding Rock, and Looking Glass Falls.
