Welcome to Green Ridge State Forest, the largest contiguous block of public land in Maryland, spanning 49,000 acres within the Ridge and Valley Province of the Appalachian Mountains. This 'working forest' is rich in both natural and cultural heritage and is managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Service to conserve ecological processes while supporting the regional economy. Visitors can explore the forest's natural beauty, engage in various activities like camping, fishing, and hunting, and learn about the forest's management and certification. The forest is open daily, and self-registration is available at the outside Kiosk for camping, shooting range, and fuelwood cutting.
