Welcome to Green Ridge State Forest, the largest contiguous block of public land in Maryland at 49,000 acres. Located within the Ridge and Valley Province of the Appalachian Mountains, it is rich in both natural and cultural heritage. The forest is a 'working forest' managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Forest Service to conserve natural ecological processes while supporting the local economy through an active forest management program. The forest offers various recreational activities, including camping, shooting range, fishing, and geocaching, with state forest regulations posted throughout the forest.
