Friends of the Cheat is a non-profit organization working to restore, preserve, and promote the natural qualities of the Cheat River watershed. Since its formation in 1994, the organization has focused on addressing acid mine drainage pollution issues in the lower reaches of the watershed. Through coalition building, collaboration, and implementation of treatment systems, the Cheat River has been revitalized. The organization welcomes volunteers and offers various programs, including snorkeling and conservation efforts.
