Four Acre Woods Campground is a beautifully revived island campground located on Sunshine Island in Deer Isle, Maine. Originally established over 60 years ago as Sunshine Campground, it operated until the 1990s before sitting untouched for two decades. The campground reopened on July 1st, 2020, and has since been voted Maine's #1 Best Hipcamp. Thickly forested with native spruce, fir, and birch trees, the 12 deeply wooded campsites offer a peaceful, serene setting where visitors can disconnect and reconnect with nature and loved ones. The campground is situated about an hour from Acadia National Park and just 20 minutes from the charming town of Stonington, offering easy access to waterfront views and local dining. The property features clean bathrooms with hot water, a sauna, a community cabin, and opportunities for guided kayaking tours of the Stonington Archipelago led by the founder and Maine Kayaking Guide, Caleb Scott.
