Cacapon Junction Campsite is a scenic campsite located near the C&O Canal, offering a unique experience for visitors. The campsite is situated near the B&O Railroad bridge, making it one of the most scenic sites on the Canal. Although the Great Cacapon River is not much more than a creek, it was seen as an important resource for commerce upstream. Flatboats and rafts brought iron, flour, and lumber downstream from Bloomery Gap and the Cacapon valley. Visitors can explore the nearby Lock 54, Dam 6/Guard Lock 6/Lock 55, and other points of interest. The campsite is also close to the Western Maryland Rail Trail, offering opportunities for hiking and biking. Please note that potable water may not be available at each campsite, and water is treated with iodine. Visitors are advised to plan ahead and bring water purification tablets.
