About
From the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the San Juan Mountains, the Rio Grande National Forest offers uncrowded year-round recreation opportunities. Visitors can enjoy mountain scenery, hiking, horse and motorized trails, fishing access, and more. The forest has eleven cabins available for nightly rental, and some campgrounds can be reserved in advance. The Interagency Access Pass offers visitor discounts on fees charged on national forests. The forest covers a lot of ground, and visitors can explore the Recreation Regions for a more isolated view of their destination. The Rio Grande National Forest is seeking candidates for special use authorizations to provide recreational experiences on the Conejos Peak and Saguache Ranger Districts.
