Youth Camping Site D

Chester, Connecticut

About

Youth Group Camping Areas are available in 19 locations in parks and forests across the state and are available to qualifying youth groups. Youth Group Camping Areas are generally set away from main public use areas, giving group leaders maximum control over their group's camping experience. This program is designed to encourage Connecticut youth to learn about nature and the camping experience. Eligible youth groups must be youth-oriented and non-profit, with adult supervision in a ratio of at least one adult per ten campers under 18. The group must also abide by certain guidelines, including maintaining supervision ratios, retaining vehicles for emergency purposes, and not permitting alcoholic beverages, pets, or electric generators in youth group camping areas. Some areas are located on or near State lands that are also open to hunting, and campers are advised to wear bright clothing and take other precautions when participating in activities outside of the campsite. Reservations are available by written application only, and a fee applies for use of all youth group areas.
