Westwood Park is a 800-acre recreational facility in New Castle, Indiana, centered around a 180-acre lake created by an earthen dam. Opened to the public in 1974 by the Big Blue River Conservancy District, the park offers year-round outdoor activities including excellent fishing for bass, sunfish, crappie, and channel catfish. The park features a small modern campground open May through October, hiking and mountain biking trails through deciduous woodlands and rolling hills, a horse trail, picnic areas, a shelter house, and a play field. Visitors can observe diverse wildlife and native Indiana tree species throughout the park's various habitats. Several facilities are handicapped accessible, making Westwood Park an inclusive destination for outdoor recreation and nature appreciation.
