Webber Lake Campground, operated by the Truckee Donner Land Trust, offers a unique camping experience on a 3,000-acre property that was closed to the public for decades until the Land Trust's acquisition in 2012. Located about 17 miles north of Truckee, the property encompasses Webber Lake—the headwaters of the Little Truckee River and legendary for sport fishing since Dr. Webber first stocked it in 1860—along with Lower and Upper Lacey Meadows. The campground features 46 spacious, well-shaded sites with tables, fire pits, and bear boxes, open seasonally from spring through October 15. Visitors can enjoy fishing, hiking the scenic Lacey Valley Trail, boating and paddleboarding on the lake, and exploring meadows rich with over 100 bird species and spectacular wildflowers. The area is also steeped in history, with Dr. Webber's 1860 stagecoach hotel still standing as the last of approximately 30 hotels that once lined the historic Henness Pass Road.
