About

Wanatee Park, a 1,015-acre park located on the corner of Highway 13 and Highway 100, offers opportunities for picnicking, camping, winter activities, nature study, and more. The park is named after Adeline Wanatee, an artist and advocate for Native American and women's rights, and a 1993 Iowa Women's Hall of Fame honoree. A variety of wildlife and the proximity to the metropolitan area make Wanatee Park a popular destination for outdoor recreation. The park has a modern, state-of-the-art restroom and shower facility, and offers 69 campsites, two enclosed lodges, and one open-air shelter. Visitors can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, nature study, running, and cross-country skiing on the park's four-mile trail.
