Birch Lake Recreation Area is a military recreation site located 35 miles south of Eielson Air Force Base on the Richardson Highway. The site offers a variety of facilities, including a lodge, cabins, camper pads, showers, and a picnic area. A playground and sandy beach are available in the common area, and a picnic pavilion with a sand volleyball pit can be reserved. Several types of boats are available for rent at the lake. The site is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and accepts reservations. Pets are allowed with usual leash and clean-up rules. Water spigots are available around the campground for potable water, but there is no dump available. The site is big rig friendly and offers amenities such as electric, water, and tent areas. The site is surrounded by beautiful scenery and offers opportunities for fishing, boating, and hiking.
