Twining Campground is located in the Carson National Forest. The forest offers a variety of recreation opportunities including biking, fishing, hiking, horse riding and camping, off-highway vehicles, outdoor science and learning, picnicking, scenic drives, and winter sports. The campground is situated in a natural setting with breathtaking views of large landscapes in the Rio Chama Valley. The area south of the New Mexico-Colorado border is over 100,000 acres of rolling grassland surrounded by conifers, ponderosa and aspen stands. The campground is a popular area for camping and the main launch point into the Latir Peaks Wilderness.
