Parvin State Park, located in the southwestern part of New Jersey, is a park with a varied history and diverse wildlife. The park is situated on the edge of the Pine Barrens and features pine forests, swamp hardwood forests, and over 200 kinds of flowering plants. Thundergust Lake, Parvin Lake, and Muddy Run are popular for fishing and boating, and swimming is allowed in Parvin Lake only. The park has served as a home for the Civilian Conservation Corps, a summer camp for displaced Japanese Americans, a POW camp for German prisoners, and temporary housing for Kalmycks fleeing Eastern Europe. Visitors can enjoy the park's natural beauty, fishing, and boating opportunities, as well as learn about its rich history.
