About

The French Club is a Catholic family organization formed in 1908 to assist newly emigrated French and French Canadian Catholic men with learning the English language, preparing for citizenship, and finding jobs. The Club occupies 15 acres on the shores of Lake Elora at Three Lakes, Canyon, Minnesota, just 35 miles north of Duluth on Highway #53. The Clubhouse has sleeping, cooking, and dining facilities, as well as a social hall, and offers outdoor recreational activities such as year-round fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. The Club also has a sauna, a screen house, and camping areas. Members and guests enjoy a fully stocked kitchen, a commons area, and a pool table. The Club is self-sustaining and relies on membership for maintenance, which involves raking leaves, light painting, repair work, cleaning, and preparing the Club for the winter season. The Club is a great place to get away for a weekend or a short vacation within easy reach of the family budget. The Club has been used by various groups, including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, youth groups, and senior citizens groups, free of charge. The Club is still very much a Catholic organization, with Mass celebrated every Saturday evening during the summer. The Club has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, making it a perfect destination for families to enjoy nature and togetherness.
