Tama County is home to over 1,000 acres of public land managed by Tama County Conservation. Enjoy hiking, bird-watching, camping, fishing, hunting, boating, and more! The formation of the Tama County Conservation Board was authorized by Tama County voters in 1959. The board purchased and began construction of Otter Creek Lake in the ‘60s with the intention to create an area for outdoor recreation and habitat conservation. Today, TCCB manages 14 parks, water recreation accesses, and natural areas throughout the county, encompassing 1,102 acres.
