Steens Mountain Wilderness Resort is a remote, peaceful destination located in Frenchglen, Oregon, in the heart of the "Oregon Outback." Situated on 16 acres overlooking the South end of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, P Ranch, and the Donner und Blitzen River, the resort offers visitors an authentic high desert experience with exceptional opportunities for wildlife viewing, bird watching, fishing, and stargazing. The area is known for some of the darkest skies in the U.S., making it a popular destination for astronomy clubs. The resort is open year-round and provides a variety of accommodations including full-service RV sites, tent sites with power and water, and rental cabins ranging from modest units to the "Homestead," a fully-equipped 2-bedroom home. All overnight guests enjoy access to free Wi-Fi, a DVD library, clean restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, and a small general store. The surrounding area offers abundant wildlife, diverse bird species, hiking trails, fishing for native trout, hunting, and exceptional photography opportunities.
