The South Shore Area is located on the south side of the Skunk River at the junction of 255th Street and Franklin Avenue. This area is open year-round, with the campground open from mid-April to mid-October. The campground features 30 sites with concrete pads and 50A electrical service, as well as six primitive sites. A campground host is available to assist campers throughout the camping season. The area also features a shower house and restroom, a playground, a dump station, and fishing access to the Skunk River. The Oakland Mills Bridge connects the South Shore to the North Shore Area and a hiking trail, with a swinging bridge, connects to the Top-of-Hill Recreation Area.
