Soapstone Campground is located on the scenic Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in the Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah at an elevation of 8,200 feet. Situated among a dense forest of pine, fir, and aspen trees with willow thickets lining the Lower Provo River, the campground offers a peaceful mountain setting with abundant recreational opportunities. The campground features several single-family sites, two double sites, and one triple site, all equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings. Visitors can enjoy excellent trout fishing on the Lower Provo River, which flows alongside the campground, as well as access to miles of off-road vehicle trails in nearby Soapstone Basin and numerous hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails throughout the region. The High Uintas Wilderness is accessible from several trails along the byway, making this an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts seeking alpine lakes, streams, scenic viewpoints, and backcountry experiences.
