Silver Queen Campground is a small, rustic campground located just outside Aspen, Colorado, within the White River National Forest. Situated at 8,460 feet elevation and surrounded by aspen groves, the campground offers stunning views of the 14,018-foot Pyramid Peak and is just a short walk from Maroon Creek. The campground provides access to the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness Area, one of Colorado's five original wilderness areas designated in 1964, known for its dramatic metamorphic mudstone peaks, alpine meadows, and diverse wildlife including bighorn sheep and ptarmigan. Visitors can expect warm summer days with cool evenings and afternoon thunderstorms, with snow possible even during peak summer. The area offers excellent opportunities for hiking, backpacking, fishing, and wildlife viewing, with nearby Aspen providing additional amenities and attractions.
