About

Nestled in the shade of giant bur oak trees, Shady Oaks is a restful retreat. It's one of the oldest private campgrounds in Iowa (since 1850). The Iowa Department of Natural Resources named our stand of namesake trees to the Register of 'Famous & Historic Trees' in 1996. The campground is located on the old Lincoln Highway (Shady Oaks Rd.), 1/4 mile north of Highway 30 just three miles east of Marshalltown. The Mesquaki Casino is only 10 miles away. Shady Oaks offers 13 RV sites with full hookups, including 5 drive-on (back-off) sites for motor coaches (40-foot units) and 5 sites with 50-amp service. It's a great place for self-contained RV campers to stay, with level lots, picnic tables, and room for campers of all types.
