About

Tongue River Reservoir State Park is a 642-acre park located in southeastern Montana, at an elevation of 3,468 feet. The park is situated among scenic red shale, juniper canyons, and open prairies. It offers excellent fishing, boating, swimming, and camping opportunities. The reservoir is home to numerous state record fish, including crappie, walleye, bass, and northern pike. Fly fishermen can test their skills on the river below the dam. Wildlife viewing is also plentiful, with osprey, blue herons, deer, antelope, and bald eagles being regular summer sights. The park offers 164 campsites, with 81 having electric hookups, and 23 vault toilets throughout the campgrounds. There are also two boat ramps with docks for launching boats. Reservations for camping are available during peak season, which is from the third Friday of May to the third Sunday of September. During off-season, all sites are first come, first serve. The park is open daily all year, and campgrounds are open year-round, with electricity available at certain sites during peak season.
