The American Alpine Club's Rumney Rattlesnake Campground is a 15-acre communal campground located right off the Baker River and within walking distance of popular crags at Rumney Rocks. It's a great escape from the city and the quickest approach in the area. Campers can set up their tents wherever they feel most comfortable, and there are 16 communal fire rings and picnic tables for guests to share. The campground also has a house with bunks for rent, a communal kitchen, bathroom, and living room, as well as Wi-Fi and outlets in both the house and the barn. The campground is open from April 17 to November 1, and reservations are required. The rates are $8 for AAC members and $12 for non-members per person for camping, and $20 for AAC members and $30 for non-members per person for bunks. The campground is pet-friendly, but pets must remain on leash and are not allowed in the bunkhouse. There are also picnic tables, Wi-Fi, and outlets in the barn, which is open to the public during the day.
