River Forest Group Site is a shaded group camping facility located on the shores of the St. Johns River in Ocala National Forest, just across the river from Deland, Florida. This scenic campground is specifically designed for groups, family reunions, and weddings, accommodating up to 125 guests. The site features all new facilities including a screened pavilion for food preparation with cook stoves and a modern bathhouse. The camping area is flat with shade provided by large live oak trees and a grassy area leading to the river. While RVs are welcome, there are no hookups available. The Ocala National Forest spans 383,000 acres across four counties and protects the world's largest contiguous sand pine scrub forest, offering visitors access to floodplain forests, pine flatwoods, and numerous water activities.
