Ridge Road Campground is located on a scenic peninsula surrounded by the 70,000-acre J. Strom Thurmond Lake, just 15 miles from the Lake Thurmond Visitor Center and Dam. As one of the area's first campgrounds, it offers a prime location for water-based recreation and outdoor activities. The campground features 63 sites with water and electric hookups, accommodating both modern campers and those seeking a more primitive experience. Surrounded by a mix of pine and hardwood trees, the campground provides excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking, and bird watching. Wildlife is abundant, with visitors regularly spotting southern bald eagles, migratory waterfowl, wild turkeys, and whitetail deer. The lake's 1,000+ miles of shoreline and excellent fishing for largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, and striped bass make it one of the best outdoor destinations in the southeastern United States.
