Reedsburg Dam State Forest Campground is a rustic campground located along the Muskegon River and the Reedsburg Dam. The campground provides excellent opportunities for boating and fishing. There are 47 sites for tent and small trailer use. The campground is located 5 miles northwest of Houghton Lake via M-55 and County Road 300. The campground offers stunning river and lakefront settings, perfect for fishing, boating, and paddling. Visitors can expect vault toilets, potable water from a hand-pump well, and no electrical hookups. Overnight fees and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground. Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay. The campground provides access to state land open to hunting, and firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of an occupied dwelling. Panfish and bass are caught in the Muskegon River, and nearby fishing opportunities include Houghton Lake and Higgins Lake. The campground is a great spot for paddling, with carry-in access located within the campground. Visitors can also enjoy the picnic area and rustic sites. The campground is open year-round, and a Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into all state park and forest campgrounds.
