About

Martin’s Cove, located about 55 miles southwest of Casper, Wyoming, is a historic site commemorating the rescue of the Willie and Martin handcart companies and the Hunt and Hodgett wagon companies in 1856. The site includes a visitors’ center with artwork, artifacts, and exhibits, as well as monuments, memorials, and sculptures. Visitors can hike a trail loop, explore the Sun Ranch at Devil’s Gate, and participate in trek reenactments during summer months. The site is a place of reverence, remembrance, and gratitude for the sacrifices made by the pioneers.
