Pioneer Trail Group Campground is a scenic group camping facility located within Stanislaus National Forest in California's central Sierra Nevada Mountains, just 2 miles from the beautiful Pinecrest Lake. Situated at an elevation of 5,600 feet in a wooded area, the campground offers three group sites accommodating up to 50, 50, and 100 campers respectively, making it ideal for larger gatherings. The surrounding region provides excellent opportunities for fishing, boating, hiking, and swimming, with the easy 4-mile Pinecrest Lake National Recreation Trail offering scenic views of snow-capped mountain peaks. Wildlife viewing opportunities include marmots, squirrels, coyotes, and deer. The campground is conveniently located between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite, and near the historic Sonora Pass, a scenic winding highway that has connected travelers across the Sierra Nevada since 1852.
