Pinnacles Campground is located within Pinnacles National Park, 32 miles south of Hollister, California, on the park's eastern side. The park encompasses 26,000 acres of spectacular rock formations and remnants of an extinct 23-million-year-old volcano. The campground sits in a rolling landscape dotted with Valley Oak, Blue Oak, and Coast Live Oak trees, with a seasonal creek running through the grounds. Pinnacles is renowned for hiking, rock climbing, and wildlife viewing, particularly the opportunity to observe California condors, the largest soaring birds in North America and an endangered species that nests in the park. The area bursts with wildflowers in springtime, and visitors can explore over 30 miles of trails ranging from easy to strenuous, as well as notable caves like Balconies Cave and Bear Gulch Cave. The campground is open year-round and offers family and group tent sites, RV sites with electric hookups, and tent cabins.
