About
The Huron-Manistee National Forests offer a variety of recreation opportunities, including biking, fishing, hiking, horse riding and camping, and hunting and shooting. Dogs are welcome on the forest, but owners must follow applicable rules and practice proper etiquette. The forest service waives recreation fees at most day-use sites on lands managed by the agency, except for concession-operated sites. The 2026 dates for waived fees are Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, National Get Outdoors Day, Independence Day, Constitution Day, National Public Lands Day, Theodore Roosevelt's Birthday, and Veteran's Day.
