About

Pilot Butte Reservoir is a Bureau of Reclamation-managed reservoir located near Kinnear, Wyoming. The reservoir is part of the Riverton Unit of the Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Program and features a dam 10 miles below the Wind River Diversion Dam, completed in 1926. Fishing is available year-round with a Wyoming State license, and the reservoir is home to trout, ling, and crappie. Limited shoreline access is available via roads, and the reservoir covers approximately 1,000 surface acres. Available services include picnic/camping shelters, a restroom, and a boat ramp, but no drinking water is available. Other activities include swimming, hiking, and watchable wildlife.
