People's Creek Recreation Area is located in the southeastern Ozark foothills of Missouri on Wappapello Lake, a 8,400-acre reservoir completed in 1941. This scenic destination offers a peaceful cove setting ideal for boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, and exploring the surrounding landscape. The recreation area features 57 campsites split between upper and lower campgrounds, a two-lane boat ramp with courtesy dock, accessible fishing pier, sandy swimming beach, and a large picnic shelter. The lower campground offers waterfront sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups, while the upper area provides full-service sites with sewer connections. Visitors can enjoy fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, white bass, and channel catfish, as well as kayaking, hunting, and hiking on nine trail systems including the accessible Shell Lake Archery Trail. The lightly wooded shorelines provide scenic shade throughout the area.
