Florence is adjacent to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (ODNRA) and the Siltcoos Recreation Area. The ODNRA contains some of the largest dunes in the world and stretches for 50 miles between Florence and Coos Bay. These areas afford an opportunity for bird watching, hiking, dune buggy and ATV excursions, and horseback riding. The Siuslaw River and the many freshwater lakes in the area make fishing, swimming, and boating activities available. At the dock, crabbing, clamming, and ocean fishing are available.
