Outlet Campground is situated below the Melvern Lake Dam on the eastern edge of the Flint Hills of Kansas, offering a scenic setting within America's last expanse of intact tallgrass prairie. This large campground features 140 family sites, many with full hookups for electric, water, and sewer, along with group day-use picnic shelters. The facility provides comprehensive amenities including flush and vault toilets, showers, drinking water, a dump station, boat ramp, accessible dock, and fish cleaning station. Visitors enjoy a wide range of recreational activities on the nearly 7,000-acre lake and surrounding 18,000 acres of land, including boating, fishing for walleye, crappie, catfish, and bass, hiking along scenic trails like the 4-mile Tallgrass Heritage Trail, and hunting for deer, quail, turkeys, and waterfowl. Younger campers appreciate the swimming beach, playground, and stocked fishing pond open year-round.
