Located in the Governor Earl Peshtigo River State Forest, Old Veteran's Lake Campground offers a unique camping experience. The campground has 16 sites, each with a picnic table, fire ring, and parking for two vehicles. Pit toilets and a solar-powered drinking fountain are available. The campground is open from April 27 to the end of November. Remote campsites are also available, with 10 designated sites located throughout the state forest. These sites require a free permit and have basic amenities such as a tent pad, fire ring, and privy. Boat-in campsites are also available on High Falls Flowage and Caldron Falls Flowage, with fees and reservations required. The state forest offers a variety of recreational activities, including hiking, fishing, and canoeing. Visitors can also explore the surrounding area, which includes the Peshtigo River and several waterfalls. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources manages the state forest and campground, with the goal of preserving the natural beauty and resources of the area.
