About
The Appalachian Mountain Club Western Massachusetts Chapter carries out the mission of the Appalachian Mountain Club in the Berkshire, Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties of Massachusetts. The chapter provides guided experiences and resources to help people get the most out of their outdoor journey, while protecting the mountains, forests, waters, and trails in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions. The chapter offers over 8,000 adventures annually, from local chapter activities to major excursions worldwide, for every ability level and outdoor interest. The chapter's initiatives include invasive species removal, pit privy replacements, protection strategies for the NET, leave no trace, and sustainability in the Tyringham Valley. The chapter also hosts events such as the See The Dark Festival and offers opportunities for people to become trip leaders.
