About

Mendenhall Campground is situated on the shore of Mendenhall Lake in Tongass National Forest, approximately 13 miles from downtown Juneau, Alaska. The campground offers stunning views of the massive Mendenhall Glacier to the north, with mountains rising 4,000 to 7,000 feet on either side. This 69-site facility is a popular destination for viewing abundant wildlife, including eagles, bears, and spawning salmon, as well as experiencing the world's largest temperate rain forest. The campground provides excellent hiking opportunities, from the challenging West Glacier Trail with 1,300 feet of elevation gain to shorter trails like the scenic Nugget Falls Trail.
