About

McCoys Ferry Campground is located at Mile 110.4 on the C&O Canal Towpath in Western Maryland, nestled between the towns of Big Pool and Big Spring on the Maryland side of the Potomac River. Part of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park, this campground offers a unique blend of history and natural beauty, especially striking during autumn. The campground features 12 single drive-in campsites and one group site, all designed for small RVs and trailers (maximum 20 feet), with vehicle height limited to 10'3" due to tunnel access. Adjacent to Fort Frederick State Park, a rare pre-Revolution stone fort from the French & Indian War, visitors can explore the area's rich cultural heritage. The campground is ideal for boating and fishing enthusiasts, with direct access to the Potomac River via a boat ramp. Potable water is available seasonally (April 15 - November 1), and the area offers excellent opportunities for hiking, biking, and camping in the mountains of Western Maryland.
