About
The Idaho Panhandle National Forests comprise about 2.5 million acres of public lands surrounding vibrant communities and rich in adventure. The National Forests offer a wide range of recreation opportunities, including biking, fishing, hiking, horse riding and camping, hunting & shooting, off-highway vehicles (OHV), picnicking, scenic drives, water activities, and winter sports. The forests are divided into five geographic regions, each centered around one or more distinctive features: Priest Lake Region, Lower Kootenai River Region, Pend Oreille Lake Region, Coeur d'Alene River Region, and St. Joe River Region. Visitors can choose an activity and see where on the forest it is offered, or note the area they'd like to stay or explore and discover the recreation opportunities.
