Mac Coon Access is a local favorite for those looking to camp or enjoy the river. Located along the Skunk River on the eastern border of Jefferson County, this area has become a popular spot for outdoor activities. Named after the Game Warden from the 1930’s and 40’s, Mac Coon Access was purchased by the Department of Natural Resources in 1945. Jefferson County Conservation has a renewable 25-year management lease agreement which allows the Conservation Board to develop and manage the area. Visitors can enjoy camping, picnicking, hiking, fishing, boating, and playground equipment. The area is prone to flooding, so it's best to check the current conditions before visiting. Mac Coon Access is a great spot for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
