About

The Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area is a 25,500-acre property located in Dawson County, Georgia. It offers hunting for deer, bear, turkey, small game, dove, and waterfowl. The forest has five sections (tracts) including Wildcat Creek, Goethe, Burnt Mountain, Amicalola, and City of Atlanta. Access includes several miles of improved road, marked improved trails, unnamed backcountry trails, and old single-track roadbeds available for public use. The forest also offers hunting, fishing, and trail access opportunities for handicap users year-round. Camping is allowed in designated locations only during specific dates, and permits are required for horse, bicycle, and camping use. The City of Atlanta Tract has a 28-mile trail system and allows horseback riding, bicycling, and camping with a $7/day per person fee. Hunters are exempt during fall big game hunts. A $75 annual pass is also available.
