About

Limber Pine Campground is located 12 miles south of Red Lodge in southern Montana, situated in the Custer Gallatin National Forest just off the scenic Beartooth Highway. The campground sits on the banks of Rock Creek in the shadow of the Beartooth Range, surrounded by a forest of aspen and pine. It serves as an excellent base for outdoor recreation, with Greenough Lake just a half-mile away and nearby trailheads providing access to the Beartooth Wilderness. The area is known for its diverse wildlife, including grizzly bears, deer, and elk. Visitors can enjoy fishing in Rock Creek and Greenough Lake, hiking on the Parkside National Recreation Trail, canoeing and kayaking on the lake, and mountain biking. The famous Beartooth Highway, called "the most beautiful drive in America" by Charles Kuralt, connects the campground to Cooke City and Yellowstone National Park's northeast entrance, located 55 miles away.
