The National Forests in Texas provide a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities, including camping experiences ranging from highly developed to primitive. Developed recreation areas offer camping on a first-come, first-served basis, while larger or more popular areas offer reservations through www.recreation.gov. Day-use fees are charged at highly developed areas with swimming or boating facilities, and campground facilities include tent pads, picnic tables, parking spurs for trailers, lantern posts, grills, potable water, and toilets.
